As I plan on explaining in an upcoming post, we recently finished switching out entire office over to Macs. While working on a PC, I was using Filezilla as my FTP client and it seemed to work well enough so naturally I checked if there was a Mac version. Since there was I downloaded thinking it would be identical to the PC version - unfortunately it was not and Freelance Review just about died because of it.
What was the problem, you ask? For some unthinkable reason, Filezilla began duplicating folders within themselves, over and over. The problem was, it duplicated the entire Freelance Review images directory into multiple copies which was almost and impossible maze to sort through. I still can't believe we managed to figure it all out and get it working again. If you happened to visit the site on Friday a little before noon (Central Time, USA) you probably noticed we were having some image problems. It affected our template images as well as our post images.
I've since found an alternative program (Transmit), which I'm checking out on a trial basis, although it's not free, but I think the old saying "You get what you pay for" comes into play here. I'm definitely willing to pay for a decent FTP program - do you have any suggestions?
I see now that Filezilla is aptly named...
